Happy Halloween
... the positive side of witches and what to do with your leftover pumpkins.
I’m starting to have fun with YouTube as I try to overcome my reticence at being in front of the camera. I’m much more comfortable behind it. In everything I’ve heard, no one watches your first takes anyhoo, so here goes.
I’m getting ready to carve a couple of pumpkins for the front porch to attract the Trick or Treaters! I always love this time because we get to meet so many of our neighbors and see all the fun costumes the kids and their parents come up with.
What to do with your leftover Pumpkins:
Separate the seeds from the inside of the pumpkin and wash them. Save the gross-looking pulp to feed to your vermiculture worms. I have a bin of voracious red wigglers that provide me with a significant amount of worm castings for my spring garden.
Place the pumpkin seeds on parchment paper and roast at 275°F for about an hour until the seeds are toasty and dry.
Let the pumpkin seeds cool. Add spices if you like, but I prefer buying the already-hulled ones since the hulls are so coarse. So I leave them plain and store them for later use.
Grind the dry pumpkin seeds in a coffee grinder and add them to your baking, like muffins, pancake batter, and snack cakes, in moderate amounts to add fiber and nutrition.
Remember, there is a Positive Side To Witches.
The Positive Side of Witches
Witches get a bad wrap.
All through history.
Yet there’s another side to the story!
Did you know that
Calling up your Witches-Self...
It’s almost as powerful as being an Elf!
That goes for Warlocks, too.
Who yet a better side,
Can choose to show you at eventide.
Scare you, they seem to want.
But it’s often a ruse,
To avoid abuse.
Did you know that
Donning your Witch’s hat
Avoids a mouth that blats?
Better still, a Witch can neither sink
Nor float...
Yet goes through life just like a boat.
Pretending to be bad
They’re held high above the deep,
Carrying candies to those who weep.
So next time you see a Witch or Warlock.
Remember... wink your eye,
They’ll change a frown into a smile, just as easy as pie.
Have a Happy Halloween.
