All kinds of self-talk go through our heads each day. We barely notice ideas flitting by, but occasionally, we catch ourselves in imaginary conversations and must begin writing, painting, singing, or creating something. I keep a file in my OneNote called Poetry and Occasional Daily Musings for just such moments. It is filled with years of poetry written on a whim. Below is a poem that came through today while reading some of my Substack friends’ newsletters. We inspire the best in each other.
Creator Economy On The Rise
"What?" the rest of the world
Asks those of us who,
Beyond the reaches of the daily whirl,
Find ideas with which to woo
Ever more readers whom we can twirl
Around our words, art, or some such adoo.
"How do you make a living then?"
T’is the very next questioning.
"You seem to just putter when,
The rest of us are toiling."
Well, so it seems again and again,
Instead, we are ever imagining.
"Imagining! Where's the real
Doing in that?"
Oh, once our inner voice finds its spiel...
Our hands engage, like the tip of a hat,
And we're running heel to toe to heel
Letting it flow right off the bat.
And that's how we engage
In hopes of discovery
By you, who in every age,
Appreciate by giving the pecuniary
For some intrinsic value of our —Sage
Creations, many thanks for trusting in our reverie.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Creator Economy and what it all means for the future of our world. There are so many fascinating things to delve into. So many new opportunities were not around just a few years ago.
Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to share your creative pursuits. What will people think? I have stopped short myself on occasion. But sharing what you do is a kind of giving.
Something like the verse in Ecclesiastes 11:1 KJV, “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.” It is never the same “bread” you cast away, but some transformed version of it, often something you most wish for, just when you need it the most.
The world will be a better place with all of us sharing our inspirations, however humble. Someone, somewhere, may find them useful.
I hope you have a very creative day.
All the best,
Trina
